So my pattern arrived today and I have spent a fair bit of time studying the back of it - especially looking at those measurements. Hmmn ... I think there may be trouble brewing and I don't know how to resize a pattern up three! sizes and based on my measurements (which stay fairly true when I'm not pregnant) the size 16 then is equivalent to almost a 12 now. Hmmn...what to do.
Dig out the dressmaking books and learn about resizing patterns - that's what!
After that I will cut out and sew up a muslin and compare it wish some of the muslin's I did for dresses I made last year. I might even take it to my aunt's place and try iton her adjustable dress form.
If I am planning on wearing it just a month after I have a baby - it shouldn't matter if the muslin is too big.
I think given how much I am in love with my fabric - I will put the pattern on hold at that point until post giving birth when I can at least fit the dress too me.

in all her polished cotton loveliness... I just couldn't take the risk of leaving it to fate and having her slip through my fingers. So now 2.5 m is mine - which hopefully is enough for the planned dress.
I am intending to make up a 'muslin' in this navy stretch poplin - not the standard muslin type fabric I know but I am kind of hoping that if the muslin turns out well I might be able to wear it too. I just couldn't justify paying $6.00AUS per meter for calico when the poplin was only $8.00. Plus the little bit of stretch in the poplin should mirror the 2% spandex in the dress fabric. I will also use the poplin to line another dress that I have in the pipeline - one that I will actually be able to wear now.

Decisions Decisions
Hi, My name is Andrea and I am excited that I found this sewalong - if only that it has given me a prompt to do something I probably otherwise wouldn't have done. I have a blog at Sew in Style.
My vintage pattern is on it's way to me in Australia also - I did have one 80's pattern in my collection but I really couldn't see myself wearing a boxy jacket. So this is what I have chosen.
I am very tempted to go out an buy this gorgeous fabric that I discovered the other day:
To make it up in and use some navy satin for the sash BUT - and I'm not sure how I will overcome this dilemma just yet: I am 6 months pregnant and don't own a dress form so I am not quite sure just how I am going to fit this dress to myself. Part of me wants to find something in my stash to make it up with so that I can make it again with the fabric I love when I am no longer pregnant. I thought that I might be able to compare the toile to a couple of other toiles I have made - but there is nothing quite like being able to get that perfect fit. Any suggestions would be most welcome! Perhaps I should have chosen a jacket!
