Du Barry 5766 - Pattern Pieces

Had a request to post pics of the pattern pieces for the dress.  The little triangle piece is the inset.  It does not wrap all the way to the back of the dress; it is front only and becomes part of the side seam.  I'll explain more about it when I blog about the Muslin #1 (hopefully tomorrow.)

  1. Very cool. Is the inset done with regular seams or lapped or both? (Sorry I'm pestering you so about your pattern...)

  2. Hey Steph, no problem! The instructions tell you to "Turn in 1/2" along notched edges of B (which is the inset). Baste inset to dress fronts, matching notices and perforations. Clip seam at point to allow for spread. Top-stitch." In my muslin, I actually sewed regular seams a couple of inches from the side seam--then topstiched the the pressed under portion. I may on the final version, use steam a seam to fuse the insert and then topstitch.

  3. Hi, Linda T, one more question about the inset if you don't mind. Is it cut on the straight grain or on the bias?

  4. Hi Juliane, it is cut on the straight.
