Roll Call! How Is Everyone Doing?

Where do you stand with your pattern? Everything going swimmingly, or have you thrown in the towel? Leave a comment and let everyone know how you're doing so far. Thanks!

  1. Well, I cut my jacket out of the fashion fabric last night, and now I need to transfer all the markings to the fabric. I hope to get a good chunk of sewing done this weekend. That's where I stand.

  2. I've decided to do one more muslin and then I think I'll be ready to cut out the real thing. The good news is that the dress, once cut out, goes together pretty quickly.

  3. Slightly delayed in getting started... I had to make a formal dress for my husband's company gala at the end of this month. But after tonight it should be finished (all but the hem) and I'm starting on my vintage bodice muslin come hell or high water! Glad the rest of you seem to be moving along more smoothly than me! :)

  4. Well......I did finished the muslin as posted.
I did get diverted with Burdastyle 8-2010-103. Not Vintage.
BUT this weekend I will post the bodice in the fashion fabric AND 8-2010-103.......

  5. Still trying to get my boyfriend's computer off my "sewing table." At least I've picked a pattern - a 40's blouse. Still on the fence about fabric choices, I'll have to see how the muslin turns out.

  6. I have my pattern on my sewing table now and am cutting out the bodice muslin. The lady who owned the pattern before me had sizing issues and had added bits and pieces of extra tissue everywhere and had cut out odd bits from here and there. It's fascinating but doesn't make it very easy for me!

  7. I have recently moved my sewing room and I am still figuring out where to put everything, but I think I now have it to a state in which I can work.
I have to find time to get hubby to pin me into my muslin to check that my alterations 'work'. Then, asuming no more modifications are required, I will need to decide on fabric.

  8. I'm also in the process of relocating my sewing space! Everything's in like, 4 different rooms right now, but hopefully by this weekend, I'll be good to go! I have my muslin fabric and my traced pattern sitting on my dinning room table, so I should be stitching any day now :)

  9. I only have my pattern cut because my sewing studio is getting relocated to a bigger room in my house! Right now I have it in a small bedroom, living room & guest room! I have the best husband - he is moving everything for me and setting it all back up (I think he is tired of it being scattered in 3 rooms)! I hope to be cutting my muslin on Monday!!

  10. My back is better and I hope to work on the armholes of my muslin later today. I will probably do one more bodice muslin just to be sure.

  11. I haven't thrown in the towel just yet, but family illness combined with the pounding we've been getting from the weather means...I haven't even gotten started. My pattern and fabric are ready, at least!

  12. I'm still holding out hope that I can sew the vintage coat, but I have not started yet.

  13. I'm in the process of figuring out whether the darts and tucks I've added to the muslin translate into a better fit on my body vs. the dress form. I'm planning to sew them in place, then finish sewing the bodice so I can try it on (i.e., fold in the seam allowances around the neck and armholes, add hooks and maybe a zipper to the back) and see how it hangs without pins.

I have two lengths of fabric that will work for this: a cotton voile print (floral on a black background) and a drapey black polyester woven. I'm leaning toward making it in the voile because I think it would be a nice summer dress, and the cotton will make it more casual. The poly, though, will be softer and might make it a good concert dress (I am a musician in my spare time, as you can see from my avatar).

  14. I've narrowed down my choice of pattern to use, unless the one I won arrives this week. I'll pull fabric this weekend. Not sure if I'll do a muslin.

  15. I'm working on recutting a muslin sleeve with less cap ease. I thought I would get all that done today, but alas, didn't get into the sewing room today. Tomorrow is another day! And still trying to choose the fashion fabric.

  16. I'm ready to start cutting the fashion fabric, but need to steam my velvet first to plump up the pile. I need to hunker down and make myself do it!

  17. Still deciding what garment to make. Indecisions have delayed my progress but maybe by weeks end have better idea.
